Time to say bye to leather shoes in CBSE schools

CBSE has taken a new decision to protect the environment and animals. It has sent an advisory to all the schools telling them to stop the usage of leather shoes and start using canvas shoes instead. It will be implemented from the next session (2014 - 15).

According to Environmentalist Professor Sunil Choudhary, elements like Zinc, Cadmium, Lead and Iron are used in the manufacture of leather bags and shoes which cause water pollution.

This decision is appreciated by People For Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) but the leather industry is somewhat annoyed at this. Industrialists are thinking to write to CBSE in this regard.
